There are a variety of schools in the United States, not all start at the same time. This bill will focus on the start times of schools and show how it could have a drastic effect.
We vision a school that can be greatly improved by simply starting school an hour later in the day. Illinois state law states that school must be in attendance for minimum 5 hours a day. The average school day is usually around 8 am to around 3 pm which is around 7 hours. Students often complain that they do not get enough sleep in a night and have trouble staying awake in class. We think starting school at 9 am instead of 8 will significantly improve grades and attendance in schools. This will also increase attentiveness in school and help students succeed.
